Emirates Energy Star - Reducing the Carbon footprint of UAE

Implementation on participant’s premises

Once the project has been agreed, and the loan put in place if necessary, Emirates Energy Star will make any necessary changes to the building control systems and lighting and HVAC equipment. All sites will have a monitoring panel installed to collate data from the equipment and sensors on site and transmit this back to the Galaxy GCCC.

Possible system modifications include: splitting lighting circuits into separate zones, installing variable speed drives for air-conditioning fans, and adding more sensors such as room thermostats, CO2 detectors, or light sensors. Emirates Energy Star engineers will integrate the equipment on site with the data gathering module and all the equipment will be commissioned to ensure that everything is working correctly and delivering the expected benefits.

For a large project, this process may be split into phases, so that the benefits of the first phase can be demonstrated before making the additional investment required to generate greater savings. Further site surveys may be required at the start of subsequent phases.

Emirates Energy Star has set up a project management office to take on overall governance of the project and handle reporting, resource and vendor management. They will take responsibility for service operation and for the operation of the devices on site – all events, incidents and problems will be handled through the Emirates Energy Star GCCC to ensure that the equipment remains operational, the service level agreement is met, and the full savings are achieved over the lifecycle of the project.
